The appearance of FIRST teams being centered around a robot are largely false. Certainly, the robot is an important part, but the ligerbots run almost as a startup business would. We need to fundraiser, keep track of a budget, and prepare assorted paperwork for FIRST and grants. In some ways, this aspect of the team is more important than the robot, as the robot can not be built without money.
Our annual event "Meet the Robot" held at the Hyde Community Center will be held on Sunday, June 12 from 1:00PM to 4:00PM. This is a fun filled day for people of all ages with activities related to science and engineering. There will also be snacks, games, activities and an exciting raffle! "Meet the Robots" is a fundraiser for the LigerBots. We hope to see you there!
Recently a lot of you have been asking me when we are going to get our shirts (not pictured, left). I can now defiantly say that they will be handed out to whoever has paid me at the event tomorrow (Thursday). If anyone who has not yet paid for their shirt would like to bring it home with them tomorrow please bring the 10 dollars to the event.
A few weeks ago Elie, Paige, Hasith and I went to PTC to represent our team and to describe how we use Windchill and ProE to help our team. They were very nice to us and helped us to prepare for our presentation. It was spilt into two parts; first Paige, Hasith and I described what our team is and what FIRST is, second, Elie did a demonstaration of ProE and Windchill. Everyone was very interested and had plenty of questions. Last we drove the robot for them and ran over Hasith's foot. We have recived an immense amount of positive feedback and have even been mentioned in several articles.
The team will be creating small marketing teams of two to three people to promote the LigerBots to local companies.
